All Quiet on the Western Front Chapters 9-12
Blog Topic 3: When your life seems difficult, what keeps you going and gives you hope?Think of some situations in which people might feel depressed or paralyzed by their troubles. What thoughts, feelings, or ideas might help them to see things more positively and keep from giving up?What are some troubling situations and some possible sources of strength that could help people endure or see beyond their troubles.
When my life seems difficult, and the things i want seem out of reach i just keep going for it. Life may be very difficult for people at times, whether its money issues, family issues, or just any issue that makes life difficult for someone, they’ve got to look at how far they’ve come. If they have survived however many years old they are it cant be so hard to find a way through their difficulties in life.
Some things they just have to let go of. “All the time you spend trying to get whats been taken from you, more is goin out the door”-Ellis in “No Country For Old Men”.
Thats exactly how i look at situations where difficult decisions need to be made. This countrys hard on people, you cant stop whats coming, Its not all just waiting on you.
For me when life seems difficult i will just take a step back and think of what I can do to help the situation because if I get into a situation that I am not sure of mysself in or do not know what is goin on I become either angry or I just do not contribute or help out. This is because I just do not feel that my advice or help is appreciated or needed. So it would make no sense to help when I am clearly not wanted.
If someone is in a toubling situation when they feel they do not have any control over what they are doing then they should just stop take a break and resume when they feel their life is less hectic. Because when under stress people do not work as efficently as they would without it. It has something to do with our genes. But it is always better to do something slowly and correctly than quickly and badly. Some situations that we may be faced with are paying bills or taking care of a family on your own. But their is no deffinite number of things we could do that are not stress related.
Whenever I’m feeling down I always try to think of things to look forward to. Of all the times that I’ve ever felt down, most of them occur at school when I get extremely bored. So I just try to think of what I can do when I get home, or I just daydream of a vacation or something. If not that I improvise and fidget with something like a rubber band or something.
However for other people depression can be much more serious and require more intense methods of stopping it. The first thing I would say is if you’re clinically depressed and your doctor recommends it would be to take medication. If your depression was due to a tragic event you should probably get some psychiatric help. Other than that all I could say would be to try to atone for whatever is making you sad.
what keeps me going when going through a tough time? what keeps me going is trying to keep my freedom and stay out of boarding school or the states legal system. trying to stay on the right track is the only montative i have.
some things that cause me problems are timtations about goingtback into my wrong ways and acting like a negative influence to others. just trying to stay to myself and not be the crAZY white kid that people come too to see something happen. i used to be the guy who would do anything to cause something to happen.
When my life gets difficult the main thing that gives me hope is my friends. If I am felling down I can always look to them. They bring me up when I am sad or depressed. Most of my friends will crack a joke and make me laugh, and once I realize what I am actually upset at I will tell my self it is not worth getting all moody about. Their have also been many times when my friends are feeling down. Most of the time I will ask what is the matter? If it is nothing serious I will try to cheer them up.
The way I see it is that if you make them laugh, and try to get them off the subject they will usually cheer up. Another way to try to help them from giving up is to bring up a time were you were in the same situation. You could also try to help. You could try to give a willing hand to try and fix the situation that they are in. Either way if you or a friend are felling down don’t be afraid to try to help fix the situation and give a willing hand.
Sometimes life can seem hard. I try and keep my chin up and know that things will soon be better. Family and friends can help when times seem hard and when I do not think I can go another day. They understand and help me sort my thoughts and feelings out so I can think straight.
My dog past away about a year ago and it seemed like my world was closing in on me. Each day was hard and painful. I would find the strength to keep going and each day seemed to get easier to deal with. Time seems to heal most things. I would talk with my family and friends and they would share their losses with me. They would help me deal with my sadness. Family and friends are an important part of my life.
When life is difficult I always think about how there will be better days and I always think of ways I can make my life better. I can always look up to God for guidance and I know he will help my get through struggles. Everyone is different in how they cope with their problems. It can depend on your beliefs or on how you look at life.
Some situations of depression might be if your mother dies. My mom’s very good friend passed away 6 years ago. He daughter was always depressed and always getting into trouble. That is how she coped with that situation. Situations should not be handled like that. My mom and I saw that girl last week. She has straightened out her life and is pursuing to be a doctor.
When my life is difficult I go play baseball. That gets stuff off my /mine. You lost a friend or someone in your family then you should go do something to try to get it off your mine. If that dose not work then you need to talk to someone special. You need to keep on doing stuff that is good for you. The more things you do it helps you keep things off your mine. One of the trouble situations is that you are making bad grades in school. The way you can fix it is that you go get help from the teacher. That is how you can fix your school grades. If you are trying to think positive then do the right stuff not the bad things. You always need to think positive not negative. If you can’t think positive then you need to get help. The best thing to get stuff off your mine is to go outside and take a walk or something.
Sometimes in life, there are things that hold you back, and then there are things that push you forward. When life seems difficult things that gives me hope is when i think about my future and what i need to do to prepare for the future. I tell myself to just keep going and everything will work out fine. For instance, someone could have a tragic death in their family, and they could feel depressed about it. Some things that might help them get over that is to not think about it. You can also think about the good times you and that person had together.
Some troubled situations are if someone gets burned to death in a house fire. That would be one troubled situatuion. One possible source for that troubled situation would be talking about it, and getting what you want and need to say out. Just talking about it. That would be a possible source that would help endure or see beyond their troubles.
In my life, the thing that keeps my hopes up and keeps me going, is being able to relax and watch basketball games. The weekend is the only time I get to rest. In some situations people might get depressed because they aren’t very happy with the way their life is turning out. And maybe their responsibilities are starting to get overwhelming for them.
Some thoughts that may help someone see their life more positively, would be their hobbies. Because if they had a hard week, but have the weekend off, then their favorite thing to do or watch may be the only condolence that gets them through the week.
When my life seemd to get difficult I think of the future, and what I want to do with my life. One thing that keeps me going is the fact that one day I will get to see my mother again and I have been waiting for a long time for it. It motivates me to do better and to keep going.
Some thoughts, and feelings may be to think about their success. Think about how far they have come or where they are going. Like those students who belive dropping out is a good idea, but there are things they miss out on when they make that decisions. When things get too difficult do something that makes you happy. Try doing things that help you to be confortable, and helps you take your mind off things that are troubling you.
My family gives me the strength to keep gooing when life seems difficult. They show their appreation and help me when I need help. Their parents say that you will never amount to anyone. The people at school make fun of you and don’t show any sign of you exsisting.
If people would show more sympathy towards them they could be more enthuseatstic and socialble. If we showed the feelings of compasion and understanding then we could be more helpful. If we told a parent or convince them to tell a parent then we could help them in the long run.
When my life seems difficult, I always turn to my family and friends for support. They are the ones who keep me going all the time. For example, if I get a bad test grade my friends always push me to try harder to get a better grade. And when I get into an argument, me and my mom always sit down and talk about that that can do to my relationship with the person that I am arguing with. Another example is, when my great grandmother died, I missed a week of school but my friends called me every day to check on me and to tell me what they did in class.
If you’re feeling negative, think positive thoughts. Or if you fail a class or test always try harder next time to do better. Never give up. If you give up then that just shows that you’re weak. No one ever wants to look week.
Well, everyone’s life gets difficult sometimes, but you have to keep yourself strong. When my life seems difficult I start to shelter myself from everyone, I become really quiet, and I try not to think about things. I just remember that no matter what I always have friends and family that will be there for me, and that will look after me, and make sure I’m always okay. People might feel depressed or paralyzed by their troubles when they have a family member or a really close friend die, or when a boyfriend and or a girlfriend break up with them. Thoughts that might help you when a family member dies are that they’re in a better place, and that you’ll eventually see them again. And my advice for a break up is that don’t get down or someone else, you’ve got to learn to depend on yourself, to stand on your own two feet. There are plenty more fish in the sea, and I’m sure someone will be around soon enough, your still young and you have plenty of time to find someone to spend the rest of your life with. Even in the hardest time of your life, you’ll always have someone to lean on; your family will always be there.
Every time my life seems difficult there’s always someone there for me. They talk to me and lift me back up again. An example of this is when I’m aggravated at someone or I just give up on myself. Like now I just don’t care about anything I’m frustrated and they can talk to me and I’m still frustrated. If they have a family then they should think about that. People can just let it go forget about it and think positive.
Sometimes you can’t endure or see beyond their troubles because they’re so traumata about what happened. They are so ill that nothing you say helps them. I can sometimes can talk to my mom when she’s mad or whatever and sometimes she gets over it then like in a week she remembers it. It’s hard to forget it and etc.
I would have to say that my friends keep me going and give me hope when my life seems most difficult. An example that I can think of for when someone feels depressed is when someone is consumed with some much guilt over something that they had done will make them depressed. To keep them from giving up people could think of the people they love and care about, or of what their lives will be like once it is over. A troubling situation that I can think of is when someone so young who has not a real chance at life has to experience death before they are ready too. A possible solution for it is to end the war, and not put young men and women through it all.
When my life seems difficult the only think I like to do is tell someone what is going on like my bestfriend. I tell my bestfriend what gose on in my life. My friend give me hints on what I can do to make my life better. Some people are depressed when they don’t feel good or when something happens to a family member or friend.
When someone is giving up someone should help them out. How can you help you can try and keep all the bad things off their mind and put some good thoughts in their head.
The motivation that keeps me going is a sense of accomplishment. When you accomplish something, you get this proud emotion that cannot be replaced. An example of this is school grades. When you get bad grades in school most people will want to just give up and call it quits. Then they get thoughts about the next year and repeating the same grade.
Another troubling situation is a house burning down. My aunt’s house burned down and she had to come live with me for awhile. When she got over grief and pain she felt like she accomplished something. A few months later she was in the process of buying her new house. Although there are many different situations, any positive outcome can give anyone a sense of accomplishment
When life seems difficult what keeps me going is faith and believing in myself. What gives me faith is god and myself .I have determination that I will succeed in my life by believing in myself and taking pride in what I do in order to successful in the world. Some people might feel depressed or paralyzed by their troubles because there probably hurt and has been through a lot in their life like death someone in their family dying or seeing someone die. Some people get depressed when there a straight A student and get there first F. I think that they should just have faith in themselves and pray and just believe that there is more to come in life. What I think that would give people strength and endure to see beyond their troubles is to start going to church and ask the lord for forgiveness and to help you and I guarantee you will be saved from your troubles.
What keeps me going in life is my amazing family. If it wasn’t for them I would had lost hope a long time ago. They have always been there for me to get me out of my troubles. I can’t thank them enough for everything they have done for me. My family has taught me to always have hope and faith. I need them so much in my life.
A situation that could depress someone would be like if they had a lot of things happening at time in which they had no control of. For example like that person had death, family money, and work problems all at the same time. I think what would help them get themselves back together again would thinking about the family they have who rely on them. Stop being so selfish and start thinking about how the people that love them feel. This always helps me get my life back on track.
what keeps me going when i have problems is my family and my close friends because your real friends will be there through the good and the bad. something that might keep someone else going is probably keeping there minds on something they like to do or something that makes them happy
like if you loose a best friend or if a family member dies or something happens in your personal life. some sources of strength but some people can handle situations better than others some people cant handle situations at all and they go crazy but every body handles stress and problems in different ways but a way to relieve the stress is to keep your mind on other things because if your brain is occupied you wont be thinking about your problems
When life gets difficult, what gives me hope is that I know that it will get better and the bad times will come to an end. People might feel depressed when a person very near to them dies or something bad happens. One of the best ways to that I have found to get over something is time, just giving a wound little while to heal will always make you feel better.
From what I go through, when I need help with problems I can ask my parents. They are always there for me when I need them. You could also tell your friends and get advice or talk to someone that has been trough what you dealing with. Someone could also just try to find something happy in there life and try to focus more on that one thing.
When my life seems to get difficult I just keep on going with my life because when you get through the pain is all over you feel good about your self. I say the one thing I hate about it is all the drama it cause . So to get over that I just go listen to music because I feel relax and collected when I do this. Its like I’m the last person in the world. Some situations that I can recall is when my friend was going to jail for something so he didn’t feel like going alone so he but my name in there so I just let the time past because I new I did nothing and you I had to but some say in this problem. But just let time past and it well be over, but for some people what would keep them going is there parents, friends. But if you real think I guess what keeps me going is life its self.
From what I have learned feelings and thought or even ideas might keep a person from seeing this I can think I can see how that my happen because things and people can distract you. That’s what makes and break people I think that if something that had a big impact on them could do this. Life isn’t easy just try your best that’s all anybody asks for. Some people go toward god because they feel he is the highest person and only he can judge you in life. Some situation like this is some who was a thief and the saw the light, another is if some was on drugs and they have kids that can turn there life around. So there are ways out to help you and distract just be safe.
When i am feeling down, i play with my animals or hang out with my friends. This helps to keep my mind occupied and not thinking of the negative. Also, sometimes i will take a nice long nap to forget about the past and wake up renewed. These actions help me stay calm and cheerful.
Some people might feel depressed when they knew someone who had passed away or if they had a rough day. For example, when Paul loses all of his friends, he relizes there is nothing left for him. Therefore he becomes depressed because he has no friends, food, life, or rest. If someone seems depressed because of a loss, they should remember the good times they spent with each other and be happy that their loss would be at peace without suffering. If they had a rough day, they should get their mind out of the negative and do things that will make them happy. For example, cooling down with friends while watching a funny movie would help a person who had a rough day. Paul should have thought about returning home to his family and caring for his sick mother. Even though they may be depressed, they should do things to stay calm and happy.
When my life seems difficult and I need to keep going there are a lot of things I do to keep going. I always ask my parents or my grandma, because they have good advice most of the time. If they don’t help me then I go to my friends and my sister. After that I would go to just focusing on a goal and achieving it.
A situation when people might feel depressed and troubled is when a family member close to them dies like a father or mother. A way to keep going after that is to focus on what is still good in your life like your friends that will always be there for you. Another one is when someone has to move and make new friends that he or she doesn’t know yet. That can make people feel like an outsider and make them be quiet and shy for the rest of their life. A good way to get through that is to talk to people and try to make new friends. Another way is to take after school activities like sports or clubs. Then you will talk to people and have something to talk about.
When my life seems difficult my friends are what keep me going, and give me hope. I can talk to them about anything and tell them what might be making me feel depressed and they help me through it. Sometimes they have already been through the same thing or something similar to the problem. Some thoughts would be to think about the best of it and not the worst. Someway to keep you positive and not giving up is to remember that giving up never does anything, and never helps the problem, so try to work through it. Talk to people you are close to that will give you hope and keep you going.
Some troubling situations would be like for example family problems, relationships, or maybe friends. When I am having troubling situations I try to not think about it and just move on. I have learned from experience don’t let yourself get bummed out about it and get all upset and worried about the problem, over time it will be forgotten about and everything will be fine. If you sit and worry about it all the time it will just make it seem even longer and make to situation worse. If there is a problem with you and someone close to you for example a family member, sit down talk it over and fix whatever is causing the situation.
In my life, when things get difficult I usually turn to my friends, family or God. They help me understand that they are here for me and make me happy. There many situations in which people feel depressed or paralyzed. One of these things that I myself have experienced is my parents divorce. I know that divorce is hard and there is nothing really you can do about it. There are many other things that people go through to make them depressed, at our age it could be breaking up with a boyfriend or girlfriend or losing a friend.
I have learned that if you talk to your family, friends or turn to God that when things are going bad they help you to keep things positive. They usually encourage you not to just give up and give you good ideas on what you can do. Another thing I think of to make me feel better is that I know that there are a lot of people out there who have it a lot worse then I do. I also think that everything happens for a reason and I don’t think that things happen to people they can’t handle it. There are times in everyone’s life when they feel like everything is going wrong, but usually those times pass and life gets back to normal.
I feel depressed when I don’t do my best at a sport. Most of the time what keeps me going is the support of my family. Some things that also get me down are when someone is sad and I know that I can’t help them. Also when some of my friends are mad at me and I don’t know why.
Some of the ways someone could get through it is by talking to someone about their problem. They could also just sit down and pray about the situation. The best way for me is to sit and talk about the situation. Someone could also concentrate on another object or task to take their mind off of it.
When life seems difficult what keeps me going is family. I am able to count on them to help me and support me through anything.
Some people might have difficulty dealing with death or illness. If someone is dealing with the death of a loved one the thought of them being in a better place may give them comfort. Also, their religious beliefs may help them to deal with things better. They may be a member of a church which could be a source of support as well.
The same is true with illness. People may cling to their religious beliefs to give them some comfort and understanding of why they are suffering. Families are an undeniable source of support during difficult times. Their presents can help someone to feel loved and give them the encouragement they need to try to recover.
When I was a baby, I didn’t face many serious life-threatening situations but there were challenges. For example, when I was trying to walk, it seemed to be a pretty difficult situation to me. I tried and tried but I would fall many times. What kept me trying to get up and eventually being successful at walking? My supportive family that encouraged me when I fell to get right back up and try again. As I grow, there are other hurdles to climb over, especially with the loss of some of my family members. During these times, I put my faith and trust in a comforting and loving God. My faith and kind words of love and encouragement from my family and friends give me hope and strength to get through these times in my life.
When someone is faced with insurmountable situations, whether it be a loss of a loved one, a terrible disease, or one of life’s many problems, it can be both scary and devastating. People can become so consumed by their worry and fear that they become deeply depressed. Therefore, we must keep encouraging and supporting them whether it is a sickness or a problem they are facing. It can be as simple as just going on a walk with someone, allowing them to talk about what is causing their depression or worry. We must remind them to look around and see that they are not alone in their suffering, and in some cases, others are suffering much worse. We cannot allow them to become emotionally paralyzed as Paul was by the war. We can assure them that they can get help to endure whatever the hardship they are experiencing through counseling, different agencies and churches.
When I am not doing my best and my life isn’t going the way I planned, I try to think positive and figure out ways to solve the problem. I will usually ask family members for support and friends for encouragement. Talking to someone else who has gone through you dilemma is a good way to keep on going. I personally think that motivation is the best way to help. I like knowing that there is something to look forward to after the bad part is over.
When you are getting bad grades in school or that one kid wont as you out, doesn’t mean you should just give up on life. You are only hurting yourself even more by worrying about it. Be strong no matter what you’re going through. There is always good following the bad.
Whenever I find myself worried or depressed, I try to think of something to keep my mind occupied. That way I don’t think about the problem all the time. Most people my age get depressed because of their grades or friend problems. Some solutions to this could be to, get new friends. This all depends if you like your friends enough to be able to work through the problem. The second solution could be bringing up your grades; this involves studying and actually doing your homework.
If your depression is not coming from any of those sources, it might be deciding whether to do the positive or negative. The positive way is of course the best way, it involves doing good actions. If negative actions are the solution for you, you might need some help. The school counselors may help you in that department. Overall depression is pretty much just a warning that you need to solve a problem you have.
When my life seems difficult, my friends, family, and all the people that are closest to me give me hope and keep me going. I also look around and see all the things I have and all the things I should be thankful for, and that too gives me hope. I see how fortunate I am to have the things that I have.
One situation in which people might feel depressed or paralyzed is if a loved one dies. One thing that would help them to see more positively and possibly keep them from giving up could be talking about it with their friends and family. Another thing that might keep them going is if they celebrate the loved one’s life instead of only mourning their death.
Dear Carly C,
I totally agree with you. My paretns got divorced too, and that is a very troubling situation to go through in life. I agree with you about how people have it alot worse than we do, so just stop and think about what you are getting upset about, and think about how there lives are, and how they feel. Like you said things dont happen to people they cant handle. Everything happens for a reason.
When life seems hard for me, I always go to my friends and family, and God for help. My friends always keep me on track, and give me hope whenever I’m down. God has never let me down, I know that I can always go to him and no matter what; I know that he is there for me. Some situations where people feel depressed are when family members die, or friends die, or friend’s moves away. You could always turn to friends, family, or whatever you look up to as your religion. You could go hang out with friends to keep your mind off everything, watch some movies, or go out and do whatever to keep your mind straight.
For example if a very close friend moves away, you could write to them constantly, call them, to keep in touch. If someone close to you dies, you could go out with some friends, or go to church, to set your mind to happier things and know that they are in a better place. When life seems hard, just don’t think about it, keep saying to yourself that everything will be ok, I believe in the saying that “everything happens for a reason” and I think that saying has a real reason to it. Don’t be down on yourself about it; don’t ever think it was your fault, even if it was, because it only makes matters worse.
I feel depressed when life in general is not going well or as they call it “the whole world is against you.” When this happens I look to my family for support. I also give more effort when it comes to school and sports. Sometimes I can tell my friends are depressed by certain set backs. These set backs can be injuries or other minor things to major. People can be depressed if troubles just keep coming and they never find a way out.
I help friends by talking to them and giving them advice to what they should do next. In some situations I make a list of goals I can attempt to conquer during these times. I just find brightness out of all situations and try to make my friends laugh. Sometimes I think about good thoughts when I’m depressed to lighten myself up.
I agree with Dillion when he says that sports are sometimes depressing. In baseball you fail alot and that can be really tough at sometimes. If I ever get into a “slump” I look to my friends support. Friends can give good advice and are really helpful. I also work harder on what I do to stay happy like Dillion.
When life gets tough for me, I always remember something that I love or have a motivation I’m working towards. When I get down I take a look at the situation and see what I can do to improve it, or just get through it if I have to. It also helps to tell yourself that there are always better days and you should work towards those days instead of worrying constantly about the same day.
Depending on the situation, some people need to treat their depression in different ways. If you have serious mental problems, it would be wise to see a doctor or therapist and talk to them. Other people can just step back and try to make the best of the situation and look towards the future and hope for better days. Usually people get depressed from financial problems. A good way to combat that is to see a financial advisor, or form a better a budget. People also commonly get depressed from divorce. Usually talking to counselors or your family can help you through it.
What keeps me going when im having a hard time? The things that keep me going would be my family and friends. The reason they keep me going is because they give me the motivation I need and they teach me how to keep my head up and think positive about situations.
Another thing that keeps me going is the bad things that could happen if i make the wrong coice because there arew so many distractions that could make you do the wrong things.
“When the going gets tough, the tough get going” Joseph P. Kennedy. Many of us have heard this quote before, but what exactly does it mean? It means: during a crisis, or time of strife, the strong-willed and determined spring into action. I have always taken this philosophy in life, because I have never liked being pitied; I would rather be like the bronze serpent for the Israelites.
During the time of Moses, God’s people spoke against Moses and the Lord, so God sent fiery serpents down, which obviously caused several deaths. Imagine if you can, being an Israelite and seeing this commotion. People all around you scream in fear and run about and anyone who is bitten dies a slow and painful death. What do you do? You and others go to someone, in this case, Moses, and ask him to help you. Moses prayed for the people and the Lord told him to make a bronze serpent and set it on a pole, then tell the people that anyone who looks at it shall live. Okay, we have a solution to the snakes, but first, the Israelites had to find the snake before they could look upon it. Imagine being bitten by an extremely venomous snake and knowing that you have but minutes until you die. All of your friends are in the same situation and you have to fight your way through the camp to find some bronze snake…What does one do in a situation like this? The average man would loose his mind and react in a foolish way.
I like to believe that in any case, no matter how severe or how mild, I can pray to God for comfort. If only one single page of the entire Bible was true, I would know that God is there for me. With knowledge like this, I have little or no reason to fear anything. Besides, what happens on this earth does not matter. I couldn’t care less if I never have a $30,000 car or own a law firm or even mount another deer. None of these things will stay with me. So why should I worry about what someone said about me the other day, or why should I worry if my breath stinks one day. I shouldn’t have to care if I never have a girlfriend or get invited to a party. I can honestly say that if someone walked up to me with a gun and said, “I am about to shoot you in the head. What are you going to do about it?” I would calmly reply, “I would thank you for helping me meet God sooner.” What have I got to loose, right? Therefore, if loosing my life, the most important thing I have, isn’t a big deal, why should anything else be?
I think Rodney Atkins said it best when he wrote the song, “If Your Going Through Hell”. If you have never heard this song before, the chorus is “If your going through Hell, keep on going. Don’t slow down. If your scared, don’t show it. You might get out ‘fore the devil even knows your there.” Many times, we feel like we are being nibbled to death by a heard of ducks. No one bite is deadly, but when compounded together, the consequences can be dire. Most of the ducks are completely out of the victims control, he just happens to get in the way. For instance, one day you are trucking along, minding your own, and you trip and break your wrist. The next week, a friend drops and breaks your cell phone. A few days later, someone t-bones you at a stoplight and you are both positive that your light was green. Any one of these events is painful enough in and of itself, but when compounded, it can lead to almost unbearable stress.
One way, and definitely my most effective way, of dealing with this is to do like Rodney and keep on trucking. No matter how hard it gets, how sure you are that this is the end of the line, you will get through. Just drop your head, pray, and tackle your problems head first. They ain’t going away. Like the song says, “You might get out before the devil even knows your there.”
I can closely relate to this topic. I have experienced many hardships throughout my life. I had a very rough childhood. My biological dad was physically abusive to me. I was so young I didn’t know what to do, nonetheless, what could I do? Here I am this little 5 year old girl against this man in his 30’s. But on September 18, 2001, about 5 years later, I finally find the guts to tell my mom everything. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do, but I knew it had to be done. I trusted my mom with all my heart and when I finally got it out I knew things were going to get better. We went to the police and I told them the story. He was arrested and sentenced to 5 to 10 years in prison. But it wasn’t over; things got worse before they got better. I had to go to consoling for about a year, which I found very uncomfortable, but it helped in the end.
It can be really hard getting through the day when you know people know your secret. They tend to look at you differently; like you are different. I try to talk with my mom and step-dad about things, even though it can be really difficult for me at times. They give me advice and the best love and support I could ask for. Even though this has been a huge part of my life, I manage to keep my head up. I have so many things to look forward to, and it seems pointless to let one thing hold me back from accomplishing my hopes and dreams.
When my life seems difficult, probably the first thing that keeps me going is god. Probably some of the things would be a death in the family. Or maybe a big break up, or fight with your family. Just know that there is always someone who cares. And that someone is god. He is always there and maybe you could also talk to your family or friends.
Also know that what ever your going through it is not the end. Theres always somthing good. And maybe you should talk to your parent they always will have somthing to say. Thats what i do somtimes. But the first thing that always keeps me going is my faith. And my trust in god.
Well first of all i am a devoted Christian and I have grown up believing that god will be behind me with whatever decisions a may make. Even if there bad decisions, God is there to catch me. So when i have a problem in life and i have nowhere to turn or no one to fall on. I fall on God, because i know that he will always take care of me through to rough times and the good.
Like say if one of my friends has a problem dating and he has not had a girlfriend in high school yet. I’m sure he would be depressed and down. But there is no reason for being down or sad about that. The times for girls are after our education, and if you cant get over it that way just pray. If i am about to fail a class i would be very sad, but i would talk to God and my parents and work as hard as i can and bring my grade up. All im saying is talking to God when times are bad are very helpful in this confusing life we live.
When things get difficult in my life, sometimes i know what to do and others I dont. A lot of things in my life get really bad, and most of my life has been difficult for me. I’ve messed up so many times and my life, but I’ve got threw it. What makes get threw it is my family and good friends. My family and friens are always there for me during the diffuicult times, and they help me get threw it.
Other difficult times I just dont know what to do. Sometimes I just want to run away from it all because I have no clue what to do. I’ve wanted to do that so many times. But thats life and you cant just run all your life so i find ways to deal wit it, and move on. Other times i’ll get very depressed and just chill in my room and figures things out. Talking to people also helps and it makes things a whole lot easier, and that is what I have figured out to do in my life when things get difficult.
Usually when my life starts to get difficult and everything seems to go wrong, I talk to someone, or I set aside some major alone time with God. I read my Bible to reassure myself in my beliefs and I pray that everything turns out for the best. I think back at how I’ve been so blessed compared to others and think about how I could just have easily have nothing. A few issues that could depress and set back a person are problems at home, school, or work. Sometimes the death of a close relative could shock some people. Maybe even a period of time where a student’s grade dramatically falls, or if someone gets way behind on work.
Some thoughts that could lift someone’s mood could be about how good everything else was before. All the memories of happiness, laughter, and love can set a whole different way of thinking. Another way, for religious people, is to pray, or to put belief in the higher being that everything happens for a reason. If that person’s belief is strong, then it could make a big difference. They could also talk to others who they have found solace in before. Sometimes just talking about the situation could help bare the weight of depression.
I agree completely with what you say Taylor. I think you are right about always keeping your chin up in a difficult situation. I also agree with you about how family and friends can help in hard times. I also think you were right about how time heals all things. I can also cope with your situation because something similar to that has happened to me. Family and friends are a big part of my life as well as they are to yours.
I agree that family plays a big role when there is something bothering you. My family supports me and comforts me to where i don’t have to worry so much. I can trust them for helping me with my problems and they will help me through it. If someone has a loss or other issue, they should go to thir family for help. Another way they could get through their issue is to do something to distract their thoughts. Such as watching a funny movie or playing with friends. Overall, i agree with all you have said.
I really agree with your answer. Sometimes it just helps to just sit down and talk about it. Or you can also take your mind off of it, try not to think about it. Thats probably the best way to deal with things. But sometimes you just have to talk about it. It all depends on what the situation is and how the person is or feels. With me i would just rather not think about it and just move on. Thats always the best way for me. But i still agree with your answer,
I agree with you, I get down on myself when I don’t do my best in sports too. I am close to my parents like you and they also keep my spirits up when I’m down. I think it is very important to have friends you can count on being there when you need them. You are right, God does answer prayers and I pray every night. That is very important to me also.
Dear Carly C,
I agree with you on everything you said. I remember that there are others out there that have it worse than me. My parents always tell me that things happen for a reason. That’s another thing i think about that keeps me going. You had very good points and i agree with you.
Dear Carly,
I agree with you so much. I think friends, family, and God really help cope those bad situations like that. I think if you’re feeling down that you should look up at the good things in life, and not the bad things. My parents are divorced too, and even thought it’s not my fault, sometimes I feel like I’m the one who started almost every fight, because i of something I say, or ask for, or do, and when they fight over me, its as if the whole world is on top of me, and its like I can only do so much for them. I also think everything happens for a reason, even to people who can’t handle it sometimes, there is a reason for it. Whether it’s teaching you a lesson, or showing you a batter solution to something, whatever the case it happens for a reason. If you keep your head up high, things will seem to feel better.
I agree with you i alway think about teh future it always helps need to keep gonig in life. I think it is completely absurt if you drop out of high school. You do miss alot by doing that because some of the things you learn in high school your going to need in life. I alawys do things that make me happy and comtable.
I undersatnd exactly what your saying. Believing in myself helps me to keep going onward and getting what i need to get done-done. I try to listen to what others have to say but not a whole lot because some of what others say keep me from doing what i would like to do. I agree having faith in your self really helps you succeed in life.
Dear Holden,
I agree with you Holden. If you give your wound some time to heal, it will be better soon. Also I agree that you should go to your parents and friends to talk about it. You should also be happy even when things look down.
I agree with what you are talking about. I do the same stuff when things also get difficult. I try to see what im going to do in the future, and try to get some ideas, and make some new plans in life. This really helps me focus and not think about all the bad things that are going on, and what I have done wrong. I also tell myself just to get pass what has happend and try to keep on going, and try to make things better, I also do what you are talking about and try not to think or worry about what is going to happen or what is already happened. So I agree with what you are talking about, and I do the same things.
Dear Joe,
I agree with you on all points. I also think that when life seems difficult, you should just take a step back and think of what you can do to make yourself feel better. The same thing would happen to me where if I didn’t know what was happening I would get aggravated also. It would only become worse if I felt that my help wasn’t appreciated either. Not only that but I would probably get kind of grouchy to random people for no good reason.
I think that if someone is in a troubling situation though they should just forget about what they were worrying about and find something to entertain themselves. If you continue to worry about it you will just get worst and eventually shut down. I don’t think it’s in your genes though. I also think it is always better to do something slow and correctly than fast and badly. However many challenges you may face like Joe said I think that you could always find a way to overcome it. That way might not be a simple or obvious one but there’s always at least one right choice to be made.
Dear Blake,
I agree with you on the fact that when you are feeling down you should think of something to look forward to. Because you should always have something to cheer you up and to be able to look forward to something is always helpful. I also agree with the fact that school can be boring I fact it is boring most of the time and I can see where you are coming from. I believe that we all have a little part of ourselves will always be sad.
Blake it is true what you say depression is more serious than what most people think it is. Although medication is effective I think that it is not always the right choice. You can always take therapy but the meds could affect your health. Also you could become addicted to the meds then you might not be able to stop. But you should always keep in mind that you need to trust people and rely on your friends and family to help you in hard times
I think you hit the nail on the head. It is imporant to have diversions when you are having a hard time. Whether it is friends and family, pets, or an activity, it will keep you fron going into that dreaded tailspin that you can’t get out of. Personally, that is one reason that I spend so much time outdoors. It provides tremendous stress relief, and is what keeps me going.
I agree with you carlyc. I usually go to my friends or family for help. Usually I go to my family first. Then I go to my friends. God is also a good source to go to. You always need someone to help you keep positive. Family usually has the advice and suggestions. Friends usually have the support. Sometimes even when they don’t know what to say. Your best friends know most about you and I would go to them before my other friends. God usually gives you the belief and psychological strength. Many things can make you depressed or feeling bad. It can vary from the smallest things to the biggest things.
I totally agree with you. I feel the same way about occupying your mind to keep it off the negative stuff. I know that when I am down or mad at something or someone a nap helps me out tremendously. It will help me to forget everything about what had happened. Also, just like you stated, you wake up with a renewed state of mind. It might help to remeber the good times that you have had with someone, but I dont know what I would do without my girlfriend and my friends. The best thing to do is to just be cool, calm, and collective and just relax. Also you need to reflect back on the things that have happened and try to move on, although it may be hard, life has to go on.
Niver, I agree but I also think that people can help you through tough times like your friends and family. An example is that your mother dies and your grandparents, ants, uncle, and father comfort you through the death. Another example is your girl friend breaks up with you it would help you to talk to your friends.
The thing that keeps me going when life is not looking good, is my family and friends. If I am not feeling happy or at least ok, then Church makes me feel better inside. One of the things that can make people depressed could be a family member or friend who is very sick. My grandpa has Alzheimer’s and it makes me upset that he got it. The best thing I can do is to spend time with him now while he still remembers me.
The thing that can keep a person going when they feel like there is nothing could be their friends, family, or goals. A situation that can be very troubling could be the death of some one who is close. Another could be a high stress job that could cause that person to break down. One of the best things to do would be to talk to some one. Looking ahead is also another thing that could help some one, would be to pursue there life-long dream. Also, encouraging that person could help tremendously.
I agree that talking to someone is a good way to ease any troubles. I have never moved, but I do know what it is like to have to make new friends. When I went to Buffington Elementary, I had a hard time making friends. I decided to join the robotics team this year and I made a new friend and had lots of fun. Also, a few months ago my grandpa that I had never even met had died. I was upset that I had not had the chance to see him. On the bright side though, I will get to see some of my family that I have never seen before.
12 February 2008
Dear Fabi,
I agree that family plays a big role when there is something bothering you.
Cassandra
Dear, Dillion M.
But i still agree with your answer,
Dear Dillon,
I agree with you, I get down on myself when I don’t do my best in sports too.
Dear Potia,
I agree with you i alway think about teh future it always helps need to keep gonig in life. I think it is completely absurt if you drop out of high school. You do miss alot by doing that because some of the things you learn in high school your going to need in life. I alawys do things that make me happy and comtable.
Dear Hakeem.
Dear Brandon
Dear Cassandra,
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Dear Cassandra,
I totally agree with you.
Dear Parker
I agree that talking to someone is a good way to ease any troubles. I have never moved, but I do know what it is like to have to make new friends. When I went to Buffington Elementary, I had a hard time making friends. I decided to join the robotics team this year and I made a new friend and had lots of fun. Also, a few months ago my grandpa that I had never even met had died. I was upset that I had not had the chance to see him. On the bright side though, I will get to see some of my family that I have never seen before.
